The Hottest Beauty Trends of 2016

2016 is finally here, which means a brand new year for trendsetting. The fashion and beauty gurus around the world have already predicted what’s going to be hot this year, so we’ve put together this list so you can always stay one step ahead. From the latest make up looks to the newest and freshest hairstyles, here’s some of the most popular trends you’ll be sporting this year.

Au Naturel

As a trend covering all bases, 2016 will definitely see a return to the au naturel looks of the 80s and 90s. Both hair and makeup will remain subtle and natural, and natural beauty will reign above heavy, over-preened looks. When it comes to hair ladies will embrace their natural colours and textures- especially afros. Fresh faces will also become the norm, with bare eyes and understated rosy cheeks.

Faux Freckles

As part of the natural beauty trend, faux freckles will be the latest must-have. On the catwalk they have already been created by makeup artist Lucia Pieroni, using lip and eye pencils. However, watch this space for a surge of new products designed especially for creating your very own cluster of freckles.

Statement Lips

Celebrities such as Lupita Nyong’o have set a trend for bold, metallic lips which will continue throughout 2016. The statement lip can be worn with little other makeup so it really stands out, giving the au naturel trend an edge.

The tight plait or braid

When it comes to hair styles, this year will be all about the casual chic braid. Rather than pigtails or a messy braid which has been popular recently, a tight single plait has been spotted all over the S/S runways. The versatile look can be worn to work, at the gym or even on a night out – we love it already. This style works best on extra long hair, so if you need a little help you know which hair extensions to choose!

Off-kilter Fringe

Fringes are back in a big way this year, but with a fresh twist. Actress Alicia Vikander sported edgy micro-bangs on January’s Vogue cover, and various other off-kilter fringes have been spotted since. If you like to frame your face then now is the time to go shorter than usual.
